Mossberg 590

  • Unlike Model 500 and 590 shotguns (with the exception of ghost-ring exhibition 590 models), Model 590A1 shotguns cannot be fitted with the factory fever shield, due to the big barrel

  • A Mossberg 590 hot spell shield and bayonet lug are required for service 3443G Type I riot shotguns, and some 590A1s are so equipped, but it is not clear if the 590A1 hot spell shields have ever been offered for sale outside of the military market.

  • The dissimilar model 505 Youth shotgun, extraneous in 2005, is similar to the Bantam but scaled down further

  • The 505 of the old school a 12 inch pull buttstock (compared to a standard model's 14 inches, or a Bantam's 13 inches), a 20 inch barrel, and a four shot pamphlet tube
  • The 505 is gettable in 20 gauge and .410 bore
  • Parts are not interchangeable with other model 500 variants.
